Gah! My best friend is having her baby!

She asked me not to post on her facebook, so I'm posting here! My best friend is having an emergency C-section tonight -- she's only 35 weeks! The baby isn't thriving, they think her placenta shut down, the baby is super tiny, but she will thrive much better in the NICU! She knew she was going to deliver early, but not this early. She went in for an ultrasound today and they told her she was going to have the baby by tonight or next morning. I'm so excited! Texting back and forth with her while she's in the hospital is making me anxious to have my own baby! I had such a pleasant experience last time; things went nice and smooth, and it was so wonderful having my husband there being so supportive. Good luck Christina!

The baby was born healthy! 4.5 lbs and 17.5 inches long..breathing on her own, she's expected to go home on friday! what a little trooper!

SugarPill Loose Shadows

I recently bought 6 sugar pill loose shadows after seeing a swatch for the blue one online. I saw the swatch and immediately went to the sugarpill site, and ended up buying 6. I've only swatched, I haven't used them on my eyes yet. The colors are REALLY vibrant, but I can tell that without an eyeshadow base, they won't last too long. No worries, because I always use a base (that's what it's for!)

I got Royal Sugar (blue), Tipsy (green), Weekender (deep lavender), Lumi (white/teal irridescent), Stella (black with purple flecks), and Goldilux (very gold)

Of course, Royal Sugar is my fav.

Swatched on my arm. My arm is about an NC20 for reference.

so much makeup

In the last couple of days I've bought so much's sad...

I've placed 2 Sugarpill orders, 3 loose shadows in each order. 2 MAC wonder woman orders. the first order had my 3 new colored mascaras, and the 2nd order has Mighty Aphrodite Blush, Pink Power MSF, and the light pink lipglass. The first two things have been sold out since day one, and last night they re-stocked, so I took advantage of that, and now today, they're already sold out again! haha...crazy. Just now I placed a pretty hefty mac order for my kit..

I also bought a new HD video camera for my tutorials. The first one I bought wasn't up to par with what I wanted out of a camera, so I sent it back. Can't wait to start REALLY doing tutorials for everyone!

MAC Wonder Woman Opulash Colored Mascaras - Review

I've been waiting patiently for a week for UPS to deliver my goodies from mac. I ordered the 3 colored mascaras from the new Wonder Woman Collection. It was the only things being offered that I felt was worth the price. I'm really hard to please when it comes to colored mascara because I have very dark lashes, and most of the time the colors don't show up to well. I'm not *thrilled* with the results MAC's WW gave me, but I didn't expect to be, either.

Overall, I wasn't too happy. BUT, I'm picky, and I know these would work great for 90% of people out there. The formula is too dry for my taste, and I personally prefer even brighter colors that are more pigmented. I don't like having to put on 3-4 coats of a colored mascara to get it to more vibrantly show up on my lashes.

"Army of Amazons" - Opulash Mascara

"Victorious" - Opulash Mascara

"Themyscira" - Opulash Mascara

and all three just for fun...

Step-by-Step pics to use Steamy Eyeshadow from MAC

this was a request from my best friend who lives across the country. I posted this on my other blog a long time ago, but thought i'd post it here.

I've included step by step pictures of how to do the eye makeup. The eye makeup (up til step 7) should be done before the foundation and rest of the face makeup, steps 8-10 should be done after the face makeup. It gives it a more clean look.
Products used:
  • eyes:
    • MAC select cover up nw15
    • MAC shadows: Cloudbound, steamy, and carbon (sub vanilla pigment for cloudbound)
    • MAC liner: feline (sub smoulder)
    • MAC plushlash mascara in black
    • for brows: MAC shadow in charcoal brown
  • skin:
    • MAC studio sculpt foundation NC25
    • MAC mineralized skin finish in medium
    • MAC blush serenity (almost any color blush works with these eyes)
    • MAC blush emote for contour
    • MAC mineralized skin finish in light for highlight
  • lips:
    • MAC liner "subculture"
    • MAC lip laquer "babied"
    • MAC plushglass "nice buzz"

the look:
 the steps:

1.) Using a 252 brush, apply the concealer over the whole lid up to the brow.

2.) Using a 239 brush, apply the highlight color just to the brow bone. Apply by pressing the color into the concealer rather than sweeping.

3.) Using the same 239 brush, apply the green color onto the lid only, leaving a little bare towards the outer lid. Apply by pressing the color into the concealer rather than sweeping.

4.) Using the same 239 brush, apply the black shadow on the outer lid only. Apply by pressing the color into the concealer rather than sweeping.

5.) Using a 224 blending brush, dip the tip of the blending brush into the black shadow, and pop the brush right into the crease of the eyelid. Sweep the brush towards the inner part of the crease and back to the outer part of the crease using swift movements for about 30 seconds until flawlessly blended.

6.) Apply a thin layer of black liner, making the line thicker towards the outside of the lid.

7.) Apply your black liner to the waterline of your eye. Without this step the eye will not look as smokey.

After you've lined your eyes, go on to finish your foundation, powder, blush, and lips.

8.) Fill in your brows using a 266. I prefer to get the shadow wet before I use it for a more clean line.

9.) Wipe off the 266, and re-use it by applying the green shadow under your eyes.

 apply mascara (not shown)

all done!

Makeup Artist's Manual

Good morning all...

As many of you know, I've been writing a book for the last 2 months or so. I'm nearing my deadline which is in two weeks, and I've been completely swamped with it. This book is the reason for hardly any FOTDs recently and why I won't be doing any in the next coming week or two. I appreciate your patience, but this book has been REALLY draining me, and I can't wait to get it over with! For those of you who don't know about it, it's a makeup artist's manual to go along with the classes, workshops, and seminars that I teach. It's not available for sale, students only, sorry :(

Anyway please give me encouragement to get through this, as I feel I've reached a writing block!

p.s. TONS of tutorials to come after this book is complete!!

Pregnancy Update: 22 weeks!

Please ignore my ghostly complexion!!

I have another ultrasound tomorrow because the Dr. thinks I might be further along than he had thought...but I don't think so....

Yes my uterus is higher than normal for 22 weeks, but I still doubt I'm further along than 22 weeks.

Anyway, all is well for me! No sickness, just get a little flushed if I stand up for too long, so I have to start doing my clients' makeup sitting down, which isn't a big deal, and they totally understand.

Baby Zoey is now 12 inches tall and about 1 pound!

18 more weeks to go!!!
