Review

Individual Shadows

Parrot - This shadow is a well loved shadow of mac fans for about a decade. Parrot first appeared in 2004 with the Salsabelle Collection, and was re-launched in 2007 with the Originals collections. It's a beautiful teal color with a frost finish and a decent amount of pigmentation. Try using it overtop the Hi Def Cyan chromagraphic pencil for more intensity.

Hajar Karim - is bright matte Kelly green shade. I find it very similar to Sassy Grass that came out with Dare To Wear. You'll need a couple layers of this shadow to get the the bright green shade.

Gameela - A bright matte pink. Too similar to the new Embrace Me shadow, as well as the recently discontinued Passionate eyeshadow. I've never been a pink eyeshadow fan, so moving on...

Banafsaji - Is a gorgeous deep frosty blue with a violet undertone. This one (and Parrot) are the must haves from the group.

Farasha - Bright golden orange, matte. Need a couple layers to get it that bright.

Quads

Rimal Danabia - The disappointing thing about this quad is that it features two perm shadows: Shroom and Soft Brown. However, both shades are a must have regardless. The good thing about this quad is that it's a great throw-in-your-purse quad because it's very neutral, you can use it for any occasion.

Masat Al Lail - *sad trombone*...this quad is actually the "Gentle Fume" quad from the Smoke Signals collection, just renamed. Same exact shadows and everything..including the permanent Carbon *yawn*.

Chromagraphic Pencils

All of the chromagraphic pencils offered in the Art Of The Eye collection are permanent shades with MAC Pro

In addition to using my chromagraphic pencils as liners, I like to smudge them out on my lid to use them as bases.

I like using process magenta on my lips (over a thin layer of Painterly paint pot) for a bright, matte, perfect hot pink lip)

What's your favorite from the collection?

NARS The Happening Palette Swatches with FOTD

The Happening Palette
Nars The Happening Palette Swatches left to right: Orgasm Blush, Night Star, Kuala Lumpur, Gstaad, Coconut Grove eyeshadows, and Laguna Bronzer
The Happening Palette

FOTD With NARS The Happening Palette and Boys Don't Cry Blush
Eye look using The Happening Palette

This is a fairly new palette that serves as a great throw-in-your-purse palette. Night Star (the lightest shadow) could afford to be slightly more pigmented, but overall, the palette is great. I'm displeased that Orgasm is in this palette, it seems NARS throws Orgasm into EVERY palette..but that's ok...it's a great blush that looks good on just about everyone. The cost is $65 and is a great value.

NARS Pierre Hardy Collection with swatches

Nars' new collection with shoe designer Pierre Hardy hit Barney's and Narscosmetics.com about a week and a half ago. I was gushing over one of the blushes, Boys Don't Cry, and had to have it. I ended up with a few other items as well.

This collection only offers two blushes and I think about 8 nail polishes, that are sold in sets of 2.

The blushes are HUGE. For those of you who are familiar with the Nars Foreplay palette, these new blushes come in a compact the same size...except it's one solid blush. That makes it .45 oz of blush versus the normal .12 oz. Needless to say it will last you a life time.

NARS Boys Don't Cry blush, Rotonde Blush, and Ethno Run Nail Polishes
On to the pics.

NARS Pierre Hardy Ethno Run Left and Ethno Run Right polishes

NARS Pierre Hardy Rotonde and Boys Don't Cry Blush Swatches
There is a beautiful overspray patter on the blushes, but after one swipe, say goodbye to it! That was a big let down. Luckily, the colors are beautiful and pigmented enough for me to love it without the gold overspray.

Rotonde is a bright orange color. It's so pigmented, so use it with a light hand!

Boys Don't Cry is between a pink and a coral, which is what attracted me to it. Also very pigmented. A little goes a long way.

Ethno Run Nail Polishes are nothing special, and I don't like the colors together. I liked them on the website and how they looked in the bottles...but on me, together, I don't like them. These are also my first Nars polishes. I wasn't thrilled with the quality. They're certainly very pigmented even with one stroke, but I had a few chips in my nails on the 2nd day :(

MAC Baking Beauties Swatches

MAC Baking Beauties Pearlmatte Powders In For a Treat and Pink Buttercream

MAC Baking Beauties Swatches -- Mineralize Tinted Lip Balms in Glace, Cheery Cheery, and Sweet Tooth.  Lipstick swatches in Raspberry Swirl and Lavender Whip
MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip Balms are a somewhat new formula that first launched a few months ago in the Apres Chic collection. It is a lipgloss/balm that is enriched with a nourishing 77-mineral complex that truly is moisturizing. The shades are fairly sheer.  To me, they feel a lot like the previously discontinued Lip Gelees, so if you were a lip gelee fan, you will most likely like the new mineralize tinted lip balms!

The Pearlmattes can be used to highlight the face. They're a little too light to function as a blush, and I'm thinking they might be too chalky on skin tones darker than about an nc40 unfortunately. The white in the powders are oversprayed, but the design is not.

Lime Crime Velvetine

Lime Crime Red Velvet Velvetine

Lime Crime Red Velvet Velvetine

Lime Crime Red Velvet Velvetine
Review

What a lovely product! A liquid lipstick that adheres to the lips and dries very matte. Wear time is a good 8-12 hours. Only 2 cons I can think of: 1) there are only 2 shades, but given how popular they are, I would imagine that Lime Crime would produce more colors soon. 2) applies with a doe foot applicator. (hence, my wonky lip shape, because I didn't use a liner, only the doe foot applicator). Pretty hard to get such a bold color on your lips with precision with just a doe foot applicator. It's ok though, the quality of the product itself makes up for it! It also smells nice, like vanilla.

Starlooks Lauren Clark Signature Set Swatches and FOTD!

Hi Everyone!

For those who don't know, I had a great opportunity to collaborate with Starlooks (an awesome makeup company!) to create a "Signature Set". This meant I picked out my favorite products and shades and bundled it all together to bring you the Lauren Clark set.

Since I'm obsessed with Coral...everything in my set is bright coral! Everything can be sheered out or worn vibrantly to create an array of looks.

One note before I get into this...there are only 4 sets left :(. They are seasonal and won't be restocking. So, if you like what you see, run to starlooks.com and grab  a set! If the sets are sold out, they will still be offering my signature lip pencil. It's so creamy and pigmented you'll fall in love immediately...

On to the swatches!

Lauren Clark Signature Set by Starlooks...Can you see my cute signature on the packaging??

Swatches of my Lauren Clark Signature Set by Starlooks. Lipstick, Lip Pencil, and Lipgloss in Tipsy, and HD Fluid Blush in Cheeky Luscious. Outdoor with no flash on top, Indoor with flash on bottom. I'd say the bottom pic is more accurate!!

The Review

Is it even fair to review my own products? The bottom line is I wouldn't have chosen these babies if I didn't stand behind them. But I'm going to break down each product so you can have a description.

Tipsy Lipstick - Very pigmented, goes on smooth, has a satin/creamy finish. Can be worn alone for a more subtle look, or paired with the Tipsy Lip Pencil and Gloss for added drama!
Tipsy Lip Pencil - The lip pencils from Starlooks are probably my favorite product from them. They are incredibly creamy and pigmented. Adore!
Tipsy Lip Gloss - This one is a lot more sheer than the first two. It's like the shy one out of the bunch. I did about 2-3 layers of the gloss in my swatches so you could see the color, but if you wear this gloss alone, you'll have a subtle hint of coral and it's extremely versatile.
Cheeky Luscious HD Fluid Blush - What is an HD Fluid Blush? Well it's really not fluid. It's actually very pasty. It's so thick and pigmented, you need the smallest dot for your cheek. That being said, this will probably last you a life time. Although it's so pigmented, it can be sheered out. The finish is a little more on the matte side, definitely more matte than what you're typical cream blush would look like. I like using my middle finger to tap the color on. I don't like using a brush for this particular product.

MAC Fashion Sets!

MAC Fashion Sets Silly, Heroine, Ablaze, and Embrace Me Lipglass

MAC Fashion Sets Ablaze, Heroine, Embrace Me, and Silly Lip Pencils.

MAC Fashion Sets : Embrace Me, Heroine, Silly, Ablaze Swatches. Lipstick, Lip Pencil, Gloss from left to right in all swatch sets.

Comparison Swatches

MAC Lipstick in Ablaze, Sail La Vie, Hibiscus, Flamingo, Vegas Volt, and Watch Me Simmer.

MAC Lip Pencils in Ablaze, Lasting Sensation, and Temperatue Rising

Ablaze - Closest to lipstick would be Watch me simmer, but honestly it's not close enough to be a dupe. Same with Ablaze Lipliner...Lasting Sensation Liner is pretty close, but doesn't cut it.
As far as Ablaze Lipglass goes, the closest shade is Lychee Luxe, but Lychee Luxe has more sparkle.

MAC Lip Pencils in Heroine, Magenta, and Grape

MAC Lipsticks in Heroine, Seductive Intent Mattene, Rebel, Strong Woman, and  Violetta
Heroine - Seductive Intent and Strong Woman are very close to Heroine. And although Violetta looks similar to it in this picture, in real life Violetta is a tad more shiny and more sheer and just has more of an electric color about it.
For the Heroine Lip liner, Magenta is super close to it, which is really disappointing to me. I was hoping for a true purple liner.
For Heroine Lipglass, I honestly have nothing even remotely close to it, so I wasn't able to do swatch comparisons of it.

MAC Lip Pencils in Embrace Me, Trimmed In Pink, Cranapple, Process Magenta Chromagraphic Pencil, and More To Love Pro longwear Lip Pencil.

MAC Lipsticks in Embrace Me, Girl About Town, Pink Pigeon, Quick Sizzle, and Show Orchid.
Embrace me - Lipstick, from the permanent line Girl About Town would be pretty close, just with more sheen. Pink Pigeon and Quick sizzle are both close too, I feel like mac puts so many of these bright hot pinks out.
Lip Liner, nothing close to it except MAYBE the Process Magenta Chromagraphic Pencil
Lipgloss, There's quite a few pink lipglosses that I don't own, so I couldn't do a fair comparison, but I'd imagine that it's similar to the Girl about town gloss and there's one from the Pro Longwear range but the name escapes me.

MAC Lip Pencils in Silly, Cranberry, In Anticipation, and the Make Up For Ever Lip Pencil in 15c

MAC Lipsticks in Silly, Saint Germain, Chatterbox, and Viva Glam Nicki

Silly - Lipstick...if I had to pick, Viva Glam Nicki..but to be honest, I don't own any lipsticks that are close to Silly. Nicki is kind of in the same color family, but is a tad lighter, has more of a sheen, and doesn't go on as buttery smooth as Silly. I feel like Silly is more of a true girly girl pink.
Lip Liner , nothing close to it, period.
Lipgloss - I personally didn't have anything close to it, but you may want to try it against Pink Poodle Lipglass.
